The Winner's Edge
According to Dr. David Cook, the two greatest predictors of
success are “Goal Orientation” and
“Mental Toughness.” Having worked with the
highest-achieving professional athletes, he should know. Take a
look at Dr. Cook's quick tips on how you can gain a mental
edge in your life.
GOAL ORIENTATION
1. Set specific goals.
2. Set tangible goals - Keep them in front of your eyes. 3. Set difficult goals - They must stretch you. 4. Set self-referenced goals - Am I better today than yesterday? 5. Take ownership of your goals. 6. Share your goals with someone who has your best interest at heart. 7. Set goals that will have a positive impact on others. 8. Have an incentive for reaching your goals. 9. Have fun in the process of pursuing your goals. MENTAL TOUGHNESS
1. Embrace the pressure - Pressure is our greatest ally (James
1:2-4).
2. Practice for the emergencies - Know your response ahead of time (Matthew 4:1-11). 3. Put on your game face - Be prepared (Ephesians 6:10-11). 4. Trust your talent - Dance. Don't count your steps (Philippians 4:13). 5. Persevere - Never give up (James 1:12). Learn more at ironsharpensiron.com. By Chad Bonham, contributing editor to
